World record holder Tobi Amusan has unveiled a gripping trailer for her eagerly awaited documentary, *Homecoming: The Tobi Amusan Story*, on Instagram.
In the film, the 100m hurdles champion shares her inspiring journey to the pinnacle of athletics, revealing the intense struggles off the track that nearly derailed her career.
In a post on Tuesday, October 1, Amusan highlighted that the documentary provides an in-depth look at her rise to fame, including her emotional battle to clear her name following a doping scandal that shook her world. She wrote, “Over the past couple of years, I’ve poured my heart into this project, sharing my journey the highs, the struggles, and everything in between. I’m thrilled to finally give you a glimpse of what it’s about with this teaser. This isn’t just another documentary; it’s your chance to be part of something special.”
The trailer features pivotal moments from her career, including her record-setting performance at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, alongside the more somber times during her confrontation with the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) over anti-doping violations.
In 2023, Amusan faced an indefinite suspension for “missing three tests in 12 months,” but was cleared in June 2024 when the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed the AIU’s case against her.
Fans can look forward to an honest portrayal of her life, highlighting both the triumphs and challenges that have shaped her extraordinary journey. The release date for the documentary is still to be announced.
Looking ahead, Amusan expressed confidence in winning a medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, aiming to overcome previous disappointments in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. However, the Nigerian team ultimately did not secure a medal at those tournaments.
