Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen forward, Nathan Temitayo Tella, has expressed his frustration over his lack of playing time this season. Despite being a key contributor to Leverkusen’s successful Bundesliga and DFB Pokal campaign last season, the 25-year-old winger has struggled to secure regular minutes under manager Xabi Alonso.

Tella, who joined Leverkusen from Southampton last year, played an important role in the squad’s double-winning season, scoring six goals and providing five assists across 37 appearances. However, much of his involvement came from the bench as he played second fiddle to Jonas Hoffman and Jeremie Frimpong in the right-wing and wing-back positions.

This season, Tella has found opportunities even more limited, making only three Bundesliga appearances, two of which were as a substitute. In all competitions, the versatile attacker has accumulated just 224 minutes of playing time.

“It’s frustrating, I’ll be honest, but I spoke to the coach. He assured me that I’ll get opportunities and that I have to be patient. When I get a chance, I have to show myself. I think I’ve done well, and I also think I’m training well,” Tella told *BILD*, as reported by UBK Football.

The lack of consistent game time has also contributed to Tella missing out on a recent call-up to the Super Eagles squad, adding to his frustration. Despite his challenges, the former Arsenal forward remains hopeful that he can prove himself and earn more chances in the team as the season progresses.
