Manchester United legend Roy Keane has criticized Alejandro Garnacho for his subdued celebration after scoring against Leicester City in the Premier League. Garnacho, 20, scored United’s third goal in a 3-0 victory but opted for a muted reaction in front of the Stretford End. Keane, known for his passionate and outspoken nature, expressed his disapproval on the “Stick to Football” podcast, stating that if a player cannot celebrate a goal, “there is something drastically wrong.”

Keane believes that scoring a goal is the culmination of a week’s hard work and that players should revel in the moment, especially considering the sacrifices fans make to attend matches. He suggested that Garnacho should “get a job somewhere else” if he cannot appreciate scoring for Manchester United.

The muted celebration follows a recent incident where Garnacho was involved in a verbal exchange with a supporter before United’s Europa League match against PAOK. The fan criticized Garnacho’s passing and first touch, to which the player retorted with a comment about the fan’s lack of playing time. Some United fans have also criticized Garnacho for missed scoring opportunities and questionable decision-making in the final third.

However, United captain Bruno Fernandes defended his teammate’s actions. He believes the young forward feels he has lost the support of some fans and that this contributed to his subdued celebration. Fernandes encouraged Garnacho to embrace the moment and celebrate his achievements. He acknowledged the importance of “difference makers” like Garnacho, who can win games for the team.
