Newcastle United and Aston Villa face FA charges after a heated half-time altercation during Newcastle’s 3-0 Boxing Day victory at St James’ Park.

The incident, sparked by tension over Villa striker Jhon Duran’s first-half red card for a stamp on Fabian Schar, escalated in the tunnel, involving players and staff from both sides.

Newcastle assistant coach Jason Tindall and Villa analyst Victor Manas have been individually charged for improper conduct. Tindall was also sent off during the altercation.

Addressing the clash, Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe remarked, “It was chaotic. There were many trying to calm things down, but it looked like more people got involved.”

Villa manager Unai Emery, already frustrated by Duran’s dismissal, saw his tensions boil over during the first half, with Tindall later seen shushing him in the technical area.

Both clubs have until 13 January to respond to the charges.
