In a tough start to the season, Golden State Warriors’ star Stephen Curry sustained an ankle injury during a 112-104 loss to the LA Clippers. The 36-year-old limped off in the third quarter, receiving treatment on the sidelines before briefly returning in the fourth. However, after just a few moments back on the court, Curry aggravated the injury and was escorted to the locker room by teammate Gary Payton.
Head coach Steve Kerr voiced his concern, explaining that Curry described the injury as “mild or moderate.” Given Curry’s history with ankle injuries, this development has sparked concern among Warriors fans and staff alike. Before his exit, Curry, a two-time MVP and four-time NBA champion, contributed 18 points.
The Warriors struggled to contain Clippers center Ivica Zubac, who scored 23 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and dished out six assists. New Clippers acquisition James Harden also added 23 points, helping secure their victory.
In other games, the Boston Celtics defeated the Detroit Pistons 124-118, with Boston looking in strong form early in the season. The Houston Rockets narrowly missed a win in a tight game against the San Antonio Spurs, ending in a 109-106 defeat. Meanwhile, the Miami Heat triumphed over the Charlotte Hornets 114-106, marking the occasion with the unveiling of a statue honoring Dwyane Wade, the Heat’s all-time leading scorer and a three-time NBA champion.
As Curry’s condition is closely monitored, the Warriors will be hoping their star can make a swift recovery to help them bounce back in the coming games.
