Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly set to part ways with the Spanish giants at the end of this month, with his final match in charge expected to be the Copa del Rey final on 26 April.
According to Sky Sports, Ancelotti will oversee Los Blancos for the last time when they face arch-rivals Barcelona in Seville, bringing an end to his second stint at the helm of the LaLiga club.
The news comes in the wake of Real Madrid’s crushing Champions League exit at the hands of Arsenal.
The LaLiga champions were beaten 2-1 at home on Wednesday night, resulting in a 5-1 aggregate defeat to Mikel Arteta’s side.
Ancelotti, 65, is set to remain in charge until the domestic cup final but is not expected to lead the team for the next El Clasico, scheduled for 11 May at the Camp Nou.
Despite being four points behind Barcelona in the league with seven matches remaining, Real Madrid are still in the hunt for a domestic double.
However, speculation over Ancelotti’s future has intensified, with the Brazilian national team reportedly eyeing the former Everton and Chelsea boss as their next head coach.
If appointed, Ancelotti could assume the Brazil role before the conclusion of the Spanish domestic season, signalling a new chapter in an already illustrious managerial career.
Real Madrid have yet to officially confirm the departure, but sources close to the club suggest preparations for a managerial transition are already underway.
