The Hope and Unity Foundation, a community development group, has called on Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to set aside their differences and collaborate towards the development of the state.

In a statement issued on Friday, March 7, by the Chairman, Zeismer Evans, and the Secretary, Owhor Chimenem, the foundation expressed concern over the escalating tensions between the two leaders, which it warned could harm the state and its citizens.

The foundation highlighted that the growing conflict between Fubara and his predecessor, Wike, was not in the best interests of Rivers State.

According to the group, the dispute appeared to stem from a struggle for control and clashing priorities, potentially undermining governance and hindering key development projects.

“The rift between them had far-reaching implications for Rivers State, threatening to hinder effective governance, delay development projects, and erode public trust,” the statement read.

The Hope and Unity Foundation urged both leaders to put their personal differences aside and focus on working together for the greater good of the state.

The group emphasised that unity was crucial for the successful advancement of Rivers State and its people.

The call for reconciliation comes amid a series of political tensions and public disagreements between the two prominent figures, raising concerns about the state’s future direction and the effectiveness of its leadership.
