Valentine’s Day music playlist- It is a beautiful day to celebrate love and what better way to celebrate love than with soulful lyrics that melt the hearts? Some artists have taken time to write music-worthy lyrics that ooze out the true meaning of love.
These songs preach love in the purest form without necessarily objectifying humans. The lyrics are written from a place of understanding of love and not mere infatuation. Without much ado, let us dive right into my curated Valentine’s Day music playlist.

This is the first song on the Grammy winner’s TORI. (+ a lil more) album. Tori Kelly poured out soulful lyrics that she resounded with her angelic vocals. The song personae expresses an unapologetic form of love such that she wishes to spend the rest of her lifetime with her love. The poet personae realize the ephemerality in life such that they need their love,’ tonight and they ‘don’t waste the rest of their life’. However, they want to love ‘minus the distance’.

I can envision this song as a good background song for a proposal.

Even their lows, their lovers love them regardless, this instantly creates this state of euphoria you can feel from listening to the song. It celebrates a pure form of intimacy you get from being in love with someone.
Parachute by Song House Co and Kynda Inskeep
In 2022, I saw Kynda Inskeep sing this song with so much grit in Song House Sessions. When it was released on streaming platforms, I wasted no time in downloading the song because of its resonating. The song personae has always thought that love was make-believe but eventually meets someone who changes that narrative. Even with this, there is no doubt that ‘love is really pretty when it is true’. She is afraid of the height that love will take her to but her lover is her parachute-her saving grace.
Yellow by Coldplay
This Valentine’s Day music playlist list will not be weighty if I don’t include the classic, Yellow by Coldplay. ‘Look at the stars, look how they shine for you’. Straight up blushing for anyone that this song is played for. These lyrics idolize you mean the stars shine for someone? Not like I love the color yellow but this Coldplay classic makes the color adorable.

Shelter sits as song number 10 on the TORI. (+ a lil more) album but I think it should be number one. Shelter is an amazing song that expresses what it means to be there for someone you love. Tori proves why she’s a Grammy winner anytime she gets on a song and this wasn’t an exemption. The vocals were excellent and an exceptional songwriting. It’s a perfect song to integrate into your playlist this season of love.
Coming Home to You by Joe L. Barnes feat. Roosevelt Stewards
A Valentine’s Day music playlist is not complete without one song reflecting the Father’s love for us.
A song that reflects the father’s love for us. The songwriting and spontaneity of this song go crazy. Lyrics like “…I can’t escape this feeling, that I belong to you” make it sound so personal and a perfect love song for the audience. Joe and Roosevelt’s vocals on this song prove their chemistry goes beyond just their close friendship but much more with the music they produce together. This song leads the audience to receive the love of The Father, which is the perfect example of loving one another and adds to the message of the entire album “The Good Shepherd” which is a call for lost sheep to come back home and reunite with the good shepherd. Lyrically, definitely well-written and expresses vulnerability. Musically, a top pick as Joe L never disappoints.
