    Tinubu swears in new NPC chairman, five permanent secretaries

    President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, swore in five new permanent secretaries and the Chairman and two members of the National Population Commission (NPC) during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.

    The new officials took their oaths of office as part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen key areas of the civil service and national planning.

    The five new permanent secretaries sworn in are: John Ezeamama, Imo State; Ibrahim Ozi, Nasarawa State; Abdul Usman Garba, North Central; Ishiyaku Mohammed, North East; and Binyerem Ukaire, South East.

    Several of the new permanent secretaries have medical backgrounds and experience in the State House Medical Centre:

    Ezeamama, 54, holds an MBBS from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an MBA.

    He previously served as a medical officer with the State House Medical Centre and received professional training in London and South Africa.

    Garba, 56, joined the Federal Civil Service in 1999 as a medical officer at the State House Medical Centre.

    He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree from the University of Jos.

    Ukaire, 57, holds an MBBS from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master of Science in Public Health from the UK.

    Ozi, 57, who holds a B.Sc. in Accounting from Bayero University, Kano.

    He joined the Federal Civil Service in 1992 and rose to Director at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.

    Mohammed, 57, earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and joined the Federal Civil Service in 2009.

    The President also swore in the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Aminu Yusuf, along with two other board members: Joseph Kigbu and Tonga Bulatafa.

    Yusuf, 65, the new NPC Chairman, holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in addition to a doctorate in International Relations.
