President Bola Tinubu has approved a one-year extension of the tenure of Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi.
Adeniyi, whose term was originally due to end on 31 August 2025, will now remain in office until 2026.
The presidency said the extension aims to allow him to consolidate key reforms and complete major initiatives under the current administration.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

The extension will support the ongoing modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service, the implementation of the National Single Window Project, and Nigeria’s commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
Tinubu commended Adeniyi’s leadership and dedication to service, expressing confidence that the extension would further enhance the Customs Service’s performance in trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
