Governor Biodun Oyebanji has moved to address security concerns, assuring residents that the state remains safe, peaceful, and secured despite security developments in neighbouring states.

The governor made the assurance on Thursday in Ikogosi-Ekiti, shortly after an emergency meeting with selected heads of security agencies in the state.

He revealed that he cut short his leave to personally meet with the chiefs, emphasising that the safety and well-being of residents are paramount.

Oyebanji stated that his administration is taking concrete steps to progressively scale up the state’s security architecture.

The measures include strengthening intelligence gathering, tightening surveillance across all borders and communities, and improving coordination and collaboration among security agencies.

“With what is happening around borders and neighboring states, there is a need for me to cut short the leave, come back home and meet with our security chiefs,” Oyebanji explained.

He added that efforts are focused on ensuring the state does not become a refuge for criminal elements.

He commended the security agencies for their professionalism and commitment and extended his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his national security efforts.

Special Adviser to the governor on security matters, Ebenezer Ogundana praised the governor’s proactive approach, noting that his decision to suspend his leave demonstrates a high level of commitment to protecting lives and properties.

Ogundana reiterated that the state has earned a reputation for being the safest state in the country.

Echoing the call for public cooperation, Oyebanji urged residents to support the agencies with credible intelligence, stressing the vital role of community participation.
