Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has approved the sum of ₦100,000 for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in the state for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

George Nwaeke, Rivers State Head of Service, announced the Yuletide largesse for the workers in a statement on Tuesday.

According to Nwaeke, the approval, which was given on Monday, is to enable the workers and senior citizens have a fulfilled Christmas celebration.

The statement noted that this the second time within the administration of Fubara that civil servants in the state will be receiving Christmas bonus, to the tune of N100,000 an amount which is above the value of the nation’s minimum wage.

But this is the first time that pensioners are included as beneficiaries of the largesse.

Also, in his Christmas message, Governor Fubara urged the people of Rivers state to embrace peace, unity, and love during the festive season and beyond.

The governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence, particularly in addressing the nation’s current economic and security challenges.

Fubara assured the people of Rivers State that the 2025 would bring new opportunities and lasting fulfillment.
