The explosion of a tanker laden with diesel has reportedly left two people dead at Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday also destroyed many properties, including vehicles caught in the ensuing inferno.
Though details of what caused the tanker explosion are still sketchy at the time of this report, NEW DAILY PRIME learned that the tanker fell on a vehicle while the driver was trying to avoid hitting the same vehicle.
In a statement to newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer of Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development, noting that the tanker was laden with diesel, not fuel, as some sections of the media widely reported.
The police spokesperson also confirmed the death of two persons, adding that the state Police Commissioner, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has deployed some officers to keep the peace in the area and prevent breakdown of law.
