Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has urged officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to remain dedicated to their duties and adopt innovative approaches to address emerging challenges.

Speaking at the 2024 Comptroller General Annual Conference in Jos, Plateau State, themed “Enhancing Border Security and Immigration Management in a Globalized World: Challenges and Opportunities for Nigeria,” Tunji-Ojo stressed the importance of adaptability.

He highlighted that with rapid changes in global trends, existing methods may soon become outdated, necessitating proactive thinking to keep Nigeria secure and progressive.

Tunji-Ojo also reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to bolstering the NIS as a key agency in the nation’s security infrastructure.

Additionally, he pointed out that Nigeria’s borders are no longer limited to land, sea, and air; they now extend into cyberspace, calling for advanced preparedness in managing this new frontier.

“As a government built on the mandate to lead change, we must, therefore, build modules for tactical management of this digital border, ensuring our security and prosperity.

“More than ever before, I am confident that our dreams of a greater Nigeria, where both men and women – young or old – shall attain true greatness, will be achieved,” the Minister said.
