President Bola Tinubu underscored the essential role of unity and collaboration in advancing the nation’s development during the South West Assembly of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Lagos on Saturday.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, President Tinubu reassured Nigerians that brighter days lie ahead, emphasising that a time will come when all citizens will partake in the nation’s collective progress.

He made it clear that his priority is not the upcoming election but rather the creation of a prosperous future for generations to come.

However, Isaac Kekemeke, the National Vice Chairman of the APC (South West), highlighted that the assembly aimed to assess the welfare of party members and devise strategies to bolster the party’s strength in the region.

He urged party members to shift their focus toward the 2027 presidential election and the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State on November 16, calling for early mobilization of supporters in preparation for these significant contests.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who coordinated the event, encouraged party members to work together not only as a political faction but also as engaged citizens of Nigeria.

He stressed that the purpose of the assembly was to exchange ideas, noting that the South West serves as the heartbeat of the nation, where unity is vital for progress.

Senator Ajibola Bashiru, the National Secretary of the APC, stated that meetings should not be confined to election periods but should prioritize nation-building and the continuous growth of the party.

Former Ekiti State Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi, in his address, called on party leaders at both the national and state levels to foster collaboration and create opportunities to listen more attentively to grassroots supporters. He also urged South-West governors to effectively utilize their forum in managing their respective states.
