Ahead of Saturday’s Edo State Governorship Election, President Bola Tinubu has urged all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and sportsmanlike approach.

In a statement made available to newsmen by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President appealed to the governorship candidates, political parties, and their supporters to uphold the sanctity of the democratic process and respect the will of the people.

President Tinubu emphasised his faith in the electorate’s ability to make informed choices about their future leaders, stressing that democracy thrives on principles of civility, tolerance, patience, and adherence to the rule of law.

He also reaffirmed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) commitment to delivering a free and fair election, calling on all stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring a smooth and peaceful process.

Commending the efforts of the governorship candidates and political parties, he lauded their focus on addressing issues that resonate with the people of Edo State.

These campaign efforts, he noted, have prioritised improving livelihoods, fostering economic growth, and contributing to national development.

President Tinubu urged the citizens of Edo State to maintain peace and respect throughout the voting exercise and encouraged them to resolve any conflicts through appropriate legal channels.

Furthermore, he expressed his confidence in the professionalism and integrity of the security agencies and INEC officials, urging them to remain impartial and resist any actions that could undermine the credibility of the electoral process.
