President Bola Tinubu has submitted the names of the inaugural Governing Board members of the North West Development Commission (NWDC) to the Senate for confirmation.
This follows the President’s signing of the North West Development Commission Bill into law on July 24.
Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced the nominees, which include Ambassador Haruna Ginsau from Jigawa State as Chairman and Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji from Kano State as Managing Director/CEO.
The other board members are Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe from Sokoto, Hon. Aminu Suleiman from Kebbi, Tijani Yahaya Kaura from Zamfara, Abdulkadir S. Usman from Kaduna, Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil from Kano, Shamsu Sule from Katsina, and Nasidi Ali from Jigawa.
President Tinubu expressed his expectation that the nominated members will leverage their extensive experience and expertise to fulfill the Commission’s mandate of advancing development in the North-West region.
The NWDC is set to focus on catalyzing significant growth, economic empowerment, and social development in the area.
