Tinubu appoints Atiku’s ex-spokesman, Bwala as media adviser

In an appointment that will surprise many, the President, Bola Tinubu has appointed Daniel Bwala as his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications for the State House.

The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made the announcement on Thursday.

In the statement, Onanuga also disclosed the appointment of three new directors-general for key government agencies.

Bwala was a very close ally and spokesman of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and was a visible supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 presidential election, which Atiku lost to Tinubu.

Bwala made headlines and stirred significant public discourse when he shifting his political allegiance to Tinubu shortly after the election.

In the other appointments, Mr. Olawale Olopade has been appointed as the Director-General of the National Sports Commission.

Olopade, known for his vast experience in sports administration, has previously served as Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ogun State and led the organizing committee for the 2024 National Sports Festival.

Dr. Abisoye Fagade will serve as Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism. Fagade is a seasoned expert in marketing communications and the founder and managing director of Sodium Brand Solutions.

Dr. Adebowale Adedokun has assumed the role of Director-General at the Bureau of Public Procurement. Before this appointment, Adedokun was the Director of Research, Training, and Strategic Planning within the bureau.

Onanuga stressed that ”these appointments underscore President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening leadership and enhancing the efficiency of critical government institutions.”
