The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), on Sunday, confirmed the death of three people in a multiple-vehicle crash at Second Rainbow Bus Stop, along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos.

The Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, said the accident was caused after an oil tanker suffered a brake failure.

Taofiq said the crash, which occurred around 6 pm, involved two commercial buses and a Honda car, and all the victims, who were passengers in one of the buses, died at the scene.

He said LASTMA officials handed over two bodies to Festac police officers, while one victim’s family took their relative’s remains.

The Lagos State Fire Service and Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) were also at the scene.

The general manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed sympathy to the bereaved families, urging tanker drivers to “remain vigilant and cautious at all times. Speed and safety must never be compromised.”
