The Ekiti State Government has announced the temporary closure of Ayo Fasanmi Model College in Ado-Ekiti to ensure the safety of students and staff, following the discovery of structural defects in the school buildings.

In an official statement posted on the state’s X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, the Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, confirmed the decision.

Olatunbosun emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of all citizens, especially schoolchildren. 

He reaffirmed the state’s dedication to providing a conducive learning environment across Ekiti schools.

According to the commissioner, the government, in collaboration with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), is working tirelessly to carry out the necessary renovations on the affected buildings. 

Additionally, provisions have been made to relocate students to alternative facilities during the renovation period.

Olatunbosun urged parents and guardians to remain patient, assuring them that every effort is being made to minimize disruptions to the student’s education. 

He stated that the school will resume academic activities once it is deemed safe.
