Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged Abdulazeez Abdulrahmon, the One-Day Governor and overall winner of the 20th Spelling Bee Competition, along with other student leaders, to remain focused and committed to their academic pursuits, reminding them of the vast potential their futures hold.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made these remarks while hosting Abdulrahmon and his peers, Oki Sewanu, One-Day Deputy Governor and a student of Ansar-Ud-Deen Senior Grammar School, Badagry, and Saheed Alimot-Odere, One-Day Secretary to the State Government from Jubilee Model Senior Grammar School, Coker Aguda, at the State House in Marina on Monday.
The governor, alongside his wife, Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, welcomed the students and commended their achievements.
In a statement shared by his spokesperson, Gboyega Akosile, on his X page, Akosile revealed that Abdulrahmon is a student of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, Oki attends Ansar-Ud-Deen Senior Grammar School, Badagry, and Alimot-Odere is a student of Jubilee Model Senior Grammar School, Coker Aguda.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also highlighted the impressive track record of past One-Day Governors and Deputy Governors, many of whom have excelled in their careers after completing their university education, becoming proud ambassadors of Lagos State.
First Lady Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, in her remarks, congratulated the students on their remarkable accomplishments, emphasizing how the Spelling Bee Competition plays a crucial role in building confidence and enhancing vocabulary skills, thus preparing better communicators for the future.
She also reaffirmed her office’s commitment to initiatives such as the War Against Drug Abuse, the Fight Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, the Lagos Boy Child Initiative, and the School Support Initiative.
Encouraging the students to persevere in their academic endeavours, the First Lady assured them of the government’s dedication to creating a conducive learning environment for all children.
The event was graced by the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Oluremi Hamzat, as well as senior government officials, including Anike Adekanye, the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary of Education District II, and representatives from the Office of Education Quality Assurance.
