An Air Busan passenger plane bound for Hong Kong caught fire at Gimhae International Airport in Busan, South Korea, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, prompting the swift evacuation of all passengers and crew members onboard.
The fire reportedly broke out around 10:30 PM local time (1330 GMT) at the tail section of the aircraft, according to Yonhap News Agency. A total of 169 passengers and seven flight attendants were onboard when the incident occurred.
All passengers and crew were evacuated using emergency inflatable slides. Authorities confirmed that one person sustained injuries, but no additional details about the extent of the injuries or the cause of the fire have been provided.
Photos and videos shared by local media show emergency response teams working to extinguish the flames as thick smoke rose from the rear of the aircraft. Fire authorities have not yet commented on the cause of the incident.

The aircraft involved was part of Air Busan’s fleet, which consists entirely of Airbus planes, according to Flightradar24.
Gimhae International Airport, located in South Korea’s second-largest city, Busan, has not reported any disruption to other flights following the incident.
Further investigations are underway to determine what caused the fire. This latest incident has drawn attention to safety measures in aviation as authorities work to ensure such situations are prevented in the future.
