Shettima explores Green Transport Solutions at Scania HQ

On Friday, Vice President Kashim Shettima visited the headquarters of Scania Group, a leading automobile manufacturer, in Södertälje, Sweden.

The visit was part of a strategic engagement to explore Nigeria’s market potential and foster deeper collaborations in the transportation sector.

Shettima emphasised the importance of considering all possible options, including biofuel solutions, to address Nigeria’s pressing transportation challenges.

This aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s broader vision for cleaner and more efficient transportation systems, especially given the country’s recent focus on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a sustainable alternative.

Welcomed by Fredrik Wijkander of ScaniaEA Group, the Vice President also engaged in discussions aimed at leveraging Scania’s expertise in providing innovative solutions to modernize Nigeria’s transport infrastructure, from heavy-duty trucks to public buses.

Accompanying the Vice President were key officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; Executive Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Engr. Aminu Maida; Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Suleiman Halilu

Other includes Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mallam Kashifu Abdullahi, Mallam Aliyu Mahmud, Chargé d’Affaires of the Nigerian Embassy in Sweden, and Dr. Salihu Dasuki Nakande, Special Assistant to the President on ICT Policy.
