Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently presiding over the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

In an unexpected turn of events, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Eke Ibas, was spotted in attendance an appearance that has drawn notable attention.

Adding to the political intrigue, the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was also present at the gathering.

Other governors in attendance include Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak of Kwara, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, and Bassey Otu of Cross River.

Several deputy governors were also seen at the meeting, underscoring the significance of the discussions taking place.

The NEC, which is traditionally chaired by the Vice President, serves as a critical forum for deliberating on matters affecting Nigeria’s economy, including fiscal policy, national development plans, and the coordination of economic programmes among states.

More details to follow as the meeting progresses.
