In a renewed effort to combat criminal activities across Nigeria, the Police have rescued 13 kidnapped victims, arrested five suspected armed robbers, and recovered firearms and ammunition.

In a statement ,today, Olumuyiwa Adejobi,Police spokesperson , said the achievements underlined the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians.

He said the operatives of the Kwara State Police Command stormed a kidnappers’ den in the Idofin-Igbana area following a distress call regarding the abduction of 13 individuals.

According to him, despite resistance from the kidnappers, the operatives overpowered them, forcing the criminals to flee with injuries and rescuing all the victims.

Similarly, Adejobi added that yesterday ,the Lagos State Police Command operatives responded to a report of a public disturbance at Pinnacle Depot, Lekki, where they apprehended two individuals, Lawan Mustapha, 38, and Aina Daniel, 38.

He said a thorough search led to the recovery of a double-barrel rifle, 90 live cartridges, and five model rifles. The suspects are in custody and under investigation.

Furthermore, he said on the same day, police operatives in GRA Ikeja arrested three suspected armed robbers.

“A search uncovered a locally made pistol, four live cartridges, and two cutlasses. The suspects are also in custody and will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations”, said Adejobi.

He said the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the police commitment to eradicating kidnapping, armed robbery, and other forms of criminality.

Adejobi noted that Egbetokun assured Nigerians that the police would leverage all available resources to create a safer environment for all.

Adejobi emphasised that the police remained steadfast in its mission to protect lives and property, urging citizens to continue supporting the police in the fight against crime.
