The Adamawa State Police Command has begin rescue search for armed criminals responsible for the abduction of two Catholic priests in the early hours of Saturday.

A report noted that Reverend Father Mathew David Dusami of Yola Diocese and Reverend Father Abraham Samman of Jalingo Diocese were taken from their residence in Gwaida Malam, Numan Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, stated that the assailants invaded the house around 4:00 a.m. and forcibly removed the priests, transporting them to an unknown location.

Condemning the incident, Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris described it as an unprovoked attack against religious figures who actively promote peace and stability.

He reassured the public that law enforcement is making every effort to track the kidnappers and secure the priests’ release as they are determine to bring perpetrators to face the law.

“The Adamawa State Police Command is making concerted efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. We remain committed to safeguarding lives and resisting all forms of violent crime in the state,” CP Morris affirmed.

In response, tactical teams and specialized operational units have been mobilized to locate the perpetrators. Authorities are appealing to residents to remain calm and provide any valuable information that might assist the investigation.
