The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a 17-year-old boy for the alleged murder of an unidentified man in Delta State.
In a video shared via the command’s X page on Thursday, the teenager, whose identity was not revealed, explained what transpired between him and the deceased.
The boy stated that he attacked the man with a machete, cutting him while trying to avenge the humiliation his mother suffered at the hands of the deceased.
According to the culprit, he retaliated four days after his mother’s abuse. He confronted the elderly man in an isolated area near a bush and struck him with the machete.
The elderly man, bleeding from his injury, fled into a nearby farm, where he ultimately bled to death.
It was reported that the boy was apprehended at his brother’s barbershop.
The video narrated, “The 17-year-old, while trying to avenge his mother as he claims, attacked an old man in the bush with a machete, leading to the man’s death by bleeding.
“He said his mother begged him to forgive the man, but he refused. Now, a murder case hangs over a 17-year-old. For the first time, I actually feel pity for him and pray that God helps him.”
The boy disclosed that before carrying out his plan, his mother had urged him to let go of the incident. Despite her request, he proceeded with the attack, which resulted in the elderly man’s death.
He expressed remorse, saying, “I pray that God helps me. I didn’t know the man would die after I cut his hand, the hand he used to beat my mother.”
The police spokesperson, Edafe Bright highlighted the disadvantage of anger, noting that it leads to destruction.
