Ondo State Governor and gubernatorial candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged to build upon his administration’s achievements over the next four years if re-elected in the upcoming governorship election.
During a campaign tour at the Irele Multipurpose Hall and Civic Centre on Friday, the governor addressed community leaders, emphasising that his administration has made the security of lives and property a top priority.
He stated that ensuring safety is vital for effective governance and the overall development of the state.
In his commitment to inclusivity, Governor Aiyedatiwa reassured the people of Irele that he would not interfere in the selection process for a new king, affirming that the community has the right to choose its monarch.
“Whoever the kingmakers choose is the one who will be king. I implore the kingmakers to follow due process so that there will be a smooth selection process,” he said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasised that his administration is committed to delivering on its promises, stating that they have initiated the construction of the 28km Iyansan-Ajagba-Akotogbo road.
Community leader Chief Adeniyi Samson praised the governor for his prompt payment of salaries and gratuities, urging residents to come out in large numbers to support the governor in the upcoming election on November 16.
On behalf of the traditional rulers, the Odogbo of Omi, Oba Olorunsola Akinyelure, expressed gratitude to the governor for prioritizing the welfare of traditional leaders.
He said, “You have done something for all monarchs in Irele local government. You have empowered us to shoulder our responsibilities. You have listening ears.”
Remi Olatubora, a prominent community leader, expressed unwavering support for the governor on behalf of the people of Irele.
He stated, “We assure you that the electoral margin we will deliver will be unprecedented. This local government will not only vote for you but will also stand steadfastly by your side.”
During the governor’s visit to Iyansan, he was warmly received and honoured with the chieftaincy title of Jagunmolu of Iyansan by Oba Akinyomi Olasehinde, the Laaragunsin of Ode Iyansan. The community rallied together to declare their full support for his re-election.
