Ondo State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the upcoming November 16 governorship election, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged to facilitate the establishment of an airstrip in Okitipupa Local Government Area.
The governor made the promise during his campaign tour of the local government on Thursday, emphasising that the airstrip would improve access to the region, boosting business and fostering economic growth.
He also reassured the people about the proposed deep seaport project in the south, confirming that construction would begin after the election next year.
Additionally, Governor Aiyedatiwa announced the approval of a 20-kilometre road construction project in the Southern Senatorial District, aimed at improving connectivity across the region.
The governor expressed his commitment to building on the legacies of the late Olusegun Agagu, the former governor from the district, who hailed from the local government.
Speaking at a meeting with traditional rulers at the Okitipupa Local Government Secretariat, he shared his pride in being the second civilian governor from the region and promised to continue the service-oriented legacies of his predecessors.
Governor Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the significant infrastructure developed by the late Agagu, vowing to further enhance these efforts, particularly in road construction, to stimulate growth in Ikaleland.
To further bolster development, the governor reiterated his promise to establish an airstrip in the local government, which he believes will facilitate easier access for investors and foster economic opportunities.
Addressing a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters at Methodist Primary School in Okitipupa, the governor expressed his gratitude for the impressive turnout, clearly moved by the people’s support.
Alongside the Director General of his campaign, Abiola Makinde, and other party leaders, Governor Aiyedatiwa also commissioned the APC secretariat in the local government.
In his address to the people of Ode Aye, the governor urged them to channel their enthusiasm into decisive action on election day.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Abodi of Ikaleland, Oba George Babatunde Faduyile, Adegun II, conveyed the monarchs’ support for Governor Aiyedatiwa.
He remarked that true to his name, “Lucky,” the governor had indeed brought fortune to the Ikale people.
“We are blessed to have a leader like you; there is already a sense of peace and stability in the land,” the Abodi said, just as he prayed for the governor’s success in the coming election.
