Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate have pledged to prioritize policies aimed at improving healthcare, education, job opportunities, and infrastructure if elected.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa expressed his commitment to ensuring that every citizen feels the impact of responsive and compassionate governance.
During his recent campaign, the governor further vowed that if elected, he would intensify his dedication to enhancing the well-being of all Ondo State residents.
“Your confidence in my administration strengthens my resolve to serve with even greater commitment. My vision for Ondo State aligns closely with the aspirations of our people, and I am determined to build a legacy of growth and unity,” the governor stated.
Additionally, Governor Aiyedatiwa announced the appointment of Oba Stephen Oloruntele Ogunoye as the new Olusi of Owalusi, further solidifying his commitment to strengthening traditional institutions. At the Palace of the Olubaka of Oka Land, Oba (Dr) Yusuf Adebori Adeleye blessed the governor and issued a resounding endorsement.
“The Council of Obas has decided, that that Governor Aiyedatiwa is our candidate. On behalf of all traditional rulers here, we stand united in support of your election,” the monarch declared.
Emphasising the governor’s long-standing support for the traditional institution, Oba Adeleye added, “Since 1999, we have advocated for 5% of local government funds to support traditional institutions in the state. Many promised, but it was Governor Aiyedatiwa who made it a reality. This step alone speaks volumes about his dedication to our welfare.”
Oba Adeleye also expressed gratitude for the governor’s appointment of sons and daughters from Akoko South West to key roles in his administration.
A community leader in Oka, Bashorun Sehinde Arogbofa, a prominent Afenifere leader, expressed his unwavering support for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy, emphasizing Afenifere’s backing.
“The Afenifere stands firmly behind your mandate. You have shown promise and leadership, and we are confident in your ability to lead Ondo State to greater heights,” Arogbofa stated, urging the governor to emulate the values of the late Adekunle Ajasin, the first executive Governor of Ondo State.
Prince Ademola Adetokunbo, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Tourism, highlighted the governor’s extensive developmental initiatives across Ondo State, noting their positive impact on various sectors, from infrastructure to the local economy.
Additionally, Adegboyega Adefarati, a member of the House of Representatives (Akoko South West/Akoko South East), reaffirmed that support for Governor Aiyedatiwa in the council area is strong and unwavering.
The lawmaker, who hails from Akungba Akoko, urged the people of the council area to turn out in large numbers on November 16 to cast their votes for Governor Aiyedatiwa.
