On Thursday, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, in her role as National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), launched the RHI Food Outreach in Ekiti State. 

This programme provided food items to People with Disabilities, widows, special schools, and other vulnerable groups across the state.

According to a statement shared on the Ekiti State government’s social media pages, Mrs Tinubu reaffirmed her commitment to supporting women and vulnerable communities throughout Nigeria.

During a symbolic presentation of food items held at the Osuntokun Pavilion on the Government House grounds in Ado Ekiti, Mrs Tinubu, represented by the Wife of the Vice President and National Vice Chairman of RHI, Hajiya Nana Shetima, highlighted the initiative as part of her broader goal to enhance the quality of life for women and at-risk populations.

She emphasised that empowerment and food security are central pillars of her agenda.

Mrs Tinubu explained that the food outreach is part of a larger strategy led by her office to combat hunger and poverty among underserved communities, aligning with the goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to improve the lives of all Nigerians.

She further emphasized that the RHI Food Outreach goes beyond merely distributing food; it is a commitment to the well-being of women, children, and the elderly, especially those facing economic hardship. 

The initiative will supply essential food items, including rice, beans, spaghetti, and garri, to thousands of families in Ekiti State, with plans to expand to other regions in the coming months.

As National Chairman of RHI, Mrs. Tinubu noted that the initiative serves as a platform to positively impact lives across Nigeria, through programs focused on health, education, agriculture, social investment, and economic empowerment.

“Today, as we launch the program in Ekiti State, we aim to reach all the geo-political zones and support citizens in need. Our hope is that this initiative will have a tangible impact on the lives of those we are here to support as we distribute these associated food items, we encourage the beneficiaries to utilize them for the well-being of their families. A healthy family forms the foundation of a striving society, which is ultimately our goal. The Renewed Hope Initiative remains committed to transforming lives through various programs in health, education, agriculture, social investment and economic empowerment.”

“We are dedicated to supporting our citizens, particularly persons with disabilities, youth, women and children, to help them build a better family life.” She added. 

In her welcome address, Olayemi Oyebanji, Wife of the Ekiti State Governor and State Coordinator for the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Wife of the President for her impactful support through the RHI food outreach program. 

She described the initiative as a beacon of hope and a testament to the President’s commitment to meeting the needs of Nigerians, noting that it would bring much-needed relief to countless vulnerable people across the state.

Mrs Oyebanji commended Mrs  Tinubu for her dedication to making meaningful, positive changes in the lives of Nigerians through the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Biodun Agboola expressed deep appreciation to the First Lady, acknowledging that the initiative would help alleviate the burdens faced by the vulnerable. 

Praising her compassion and advocacy, Mr Agboola further noted that the Oyebanji-led administration has significantly enhanced the welfare of people with disabilities in Ekiti State through various supportive programs.

The arrival of the Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Shettima, was celebrated with singing and dancing by several women’s groups and the State Performing Arts Company, who delivered outstanding performances representing diverse ethnic traditions across Nigeria.
