A warehouse full of expired food products worth N 87.5 million has been sealed off by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Zone 4, Wuse, Abuja.
The anti-food agency shared this development on Friday via their X page, as the commission said that a large quantity of expired and unregistered food products were recovered.
The commission said the warehouse was raided, alleging that the management planned to revalidate and resell expired items to the market.
NAFDAC also revealed that a supermarket in Wuse 2 was visited and the revalidated items found in the raided warehouse were allegedly being sold to consumers.
The shared notice stated that the warehouse and supermarket were shut down for a thorough investigation.
The expired food items recovered are Cornitos Crusties Nacho, Chaunky Mango, Mother’s Recipe, Nacho Crisp, Paneer Makhani, Palak Paneer, and Dal Tadka.
NAFDAC urges the public to remain watchful over food products they consume, particularly during this festive season, and report any suspected food products to the nearest NAFDAC office for immediate action.
The statement stated, “NAFDAC has uncovered a warehouse in Zone 4, Wuse, Abuja, containing large quantities of expired and unregistered food products. The NAFDAC team raided the facility, which was reportedly preparing to revalidate and resell expired items into the market.”
