The Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has inaugurated the Technical Working Group (TWG) for the Nigerian Youth Employment Action Plan (NiYEAP).
The Minister in a statement on his X page Thursday reinforced the federal government’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians and creating sustainable job opportunities.
The inauguration, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, brought together key stakeholders, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Development, Olubunmi Olusanya, ministry officials, and representatives from organizations such as GIZ, the International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF, and the United Nations.

Minister Olawande highlighted the collaborative nature of the TWG, which will include members from government, development partners, and the private sector.
“This team will not only build a sustainable legacy of prosperity for Nigerian youth but also advocate for youth-friendly policies and facilitate the creation of youth-specific job opportunities,” he said.
The Nigerian Youth Employment Action Plan, initially launched in September 2021, focuses on four key thematic areas: Employability, Entrepreneurship, Employment Creation, and Equal Opportunity.

The group’s work is expected to play a pivotal role in driving sustainable employment for Nigerian youth, leveraging private-sector expertise and international partnerships.
Minister Olawande reiterated the government’s resolve to prioritise youth development, noting that the TWG represents a crucial step toward realizing the goals of NiYEAP and addressing the country’s unemployment challenges.
