Legendary Ivorian footballer, Didier Drogba has met with Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos.


The former Chelsea legend, who was one of the best strikers in the world over the last decade met with the governor at the Lagos State Government House, Marina on Monday, February 3, 2024.


Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat disclosed the development in a video he shared on X on Monday morning.

Gawat wrote in the video post, “@jidesanwoolu and African Football Legend, @ChelseaFC Legend, Didier Drogba @didierdrogba this morning at the Lagos House, Marina, as Team Drogba and the Representatives of E1 Racing Team pays a Courtesy Visit to Mr Governor.”

He, however, didn’t provide any other details of the visit as of press time.

The former Ivorian captain was born on March 11, 1978, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and is widely regarded as one of the most iconic and celebrated footballers of his generation.

Renowned for his physical strength, clinical finishing, and leadership, Drogba enjoyed a stellar career as a striker, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.

English Premier League side, Chelsea Football Club was where he reached the peak of his career and triumph, becoming a club legend and scoring crucial goals to help the club win many trophies, including the UEFA Champions League in 2012.

Drogba also had a remarkable international career, leading the Ivory Coast national team to their first-ever World Cup and winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015.

Beyond football, he is admired for his efforts to promote peace in his home country and his charitable work through the Didier Drogba Foundation, which supports health and education in Africa.

The talented striker is celebrated not just for his skill on the field but also for his leadership and impact off it.
