Kogi residents have been left stranded after heavy rainfall cut off the main road leading to Ayeh Gbede, a key agricultural community in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State. The incident, confirmed by Comrade Waheed Sikiru, President of the Ayeh Gbede Development Union, happened on Thursday morning, leaving the community in grief.

According to Sikiru, three critical parts of the road from Okoro Gbede have been severely eroded by the rainfalls, making the route impassable. This has caused significant trouble for local farmers, who now face challenges in transporting their produce to markets, further worsening the community’s struggles.

The heavy downpour has completely cut off the road and farmers are now finding it difficult to convey their goods to the market.

“We are appealing to the Government to come to our aid before things get out of hand. Our people are suffering because of the deplorable State of this road,” Sikiru explained. He appealed to the government for urgent intervention, warning that the situation could disintegrate further if left unaddressed.

Sikiru also summoned Hon. Salman Idris, the member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Senator Sunday Karimi of Kogi West, and other well-meaning individuals to offer assistance to the affected community. Without swift action, the community’s livelihood and daily activities remain at risk, leaving residents desperate for relief.
