The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the just-concluded Edo
State Governorship election, Asue Ighodalo, has opened up on his next line
of action.
The New Daily Prime earlier reported that the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the All Progressives Congress (APC)
candidate, Monday Okpebholo, as the winner of the election.
According to INEC, Mr Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes, defeating PDP’s
Mr Ighodalo, who polled 247,274 votes, while Labour Party’s Olumide
Akpata came in third.
Mr Ighodalo, in a statement on his X page, emphasized that the journey
does not end with INEC’s declaration of Mr Okpebholo as the winner of the
election.
The PDP candidate further stated that the next phase of his journey is a
steadfast commitment to reclaiming his mandate and paving the way for
prosperity for the citizens of Edo State.
He tweeted: “Thank you, Edo. Thank you for the love and massive support
you have shown me throughout this journey. Thank you for braving the
rains, threats of violence, harassment and intimidation to vote for us
massively last Saturday, 21st September 2024.
“Our journey doesn’t end here; it continues in our commitment and
collective resolve to recover our mandate and create a Pathway to
Prosperity for All in Edo State.”
