In a landmark moment for the Nigerian Army, Hajara Egbunu has made history as the first female soldier from the Infantry Corps to achieve the rank of Army Warrant Officer.

A statement shared on their social media platform today, noted that the historic promotion ceremony took place on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Command Conference Room in Abuja.

This achievement underscored the growing recognition of women’s contributions within the military.

During the ceremony, Lieutenant Maureen Ogbuka, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the Women Command, shared Brigadier General Mathias Amatso’s remarks.

He praised Egbunu’s exceptional commitment, discipline, and professionalism, noting that her promotion reflects her dedication and service.

He further encouraged her to continue inspiring junior personnel and upholding the values of the Nigerian Army.

In response, Egbunu expressed her gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.Gen.OO Oluyede, for fostering an environment that supports career progression.

She also thanked Brig. Gen. Amatso for his mentorship, which she credited for her achievements as the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of the Command.
