Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the appointment of Gani Audu as his new Chief of Staff.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was officially communicated in a statement issued on Friday, November 15, by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor.
According to the statement, Audu’s appointment is aimed at driving meaningful reforms and contributing to the development of the state under Governor Okpebholo’s administration.
“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public, particularly the good people of Edo State, that Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved the appointment of Gani Audu as his Chief of Staff. The appointment takes immediate effect,” the statement read.
Background and Qualifications of Gani Audu
Gani Audu, born on August 18, 1969, is a seasoned public servant with a wealth of experience in governance and leadership.
He holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) from Auchi Polytechnic (1994), a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Business Administration from Benson Idahosa University (2011), and an M.Sc. in Intelligence and Global Security from Baze University, Abuja, which he earned in 2024.
Audu’s political career spans several years, with notable positions in local and state government. He served as the Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council from 2004 to 2010, and as a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, representing Etsako West Constituency 1 from 2015 to 2023.
In addition to his administrative roles, Audu was the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2020 Edo State Governorship elections, further highlighting his active involvement in the state’s political landscape.
