Gov Adeleke denies receiving N8b LAUTECH refund, reveals ex-governor spent N2bn

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has clarified that his administration did not receive an N8 billion refund from Oyo State concerning the LAUTECH settlement.

Adeleke in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed said the previous administration under Gboyega Oyetola received N3.5 billion and spent nearly N2 billion of that amount before leaving office.

Refuting recent claims circulating as fake news, Governor Adeleke explained that the Oyetola administration received N3.5 billion from Oyo State as part of the LAUTECH settlement.

He said by November 30, 2022, the remaining balance stood at N1,562,440,436.80, meaning that N1,937,559,563.20 had been used by the previous administration.

He said since assumed office, only an additional N500 million has been received from the LAUTECH settlement, bringing the total sum from Oyo State to Osun State to N4 billion.

Adeleke noted that part of the funds has been allocated to infrastructure upgrades across various sectors in Osun State.

“As a transparent administration, all funds—whether inherited or newly generated—are managed in line with the Appropriation Act and overseen by state financial managers.”

Describing the report of an N8 billion payment as false information circulated by opposition figures, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption in managing state resources.

He urged the public to disregard the baseless claims.
