Gas explosion at Katsina filling station damages six vehicles, no loss of Life

A gas cylinder explosion at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State has left six vehicles severely damaged, the state police command confirmed on Friday, November 15. 

According to a statement by the police spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the explosion occurred on Friday when a loud blast was heard by police officers at the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters. 

The Divisional Police Officer immediately led a team of officers to the scene, joined by military personnel, to assess and control the situation.

The explosion took place at the Tamal filling station, located along the Kagadama-Magamar Jibia Road, where a truck loaded with gas cylinders was reported to be engulfed in flames. 

The joint security team quickly took action to prevent further damage, successfully extinguishing the fire before it could spread more widely.

Despite the extensive damage to six vehicles at the filling station, authorities reported that there were no fatalities. Sadiq-Aliyu emphasized that the quick response of the security teams helped avert a potential tragedy.

Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has instructed that a full investigation be conducted to determine the cause of the explosion. He assured that further updates would be provided as the inquiry progresses.

The explosion at Tamal filling station has raised concerns about the safety protocols in handling flammable materials at gas stations, and authorities are focused on uncovering any lapses that may have contributed to the incident.
