One-time governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has said that the ongoing feud between Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and his predecessor, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has deteriorated beyond reconciliation.

Fayose, who spoke on Monday during an interview on Channels Television, described the situation as “very unfortunate” and emphasized that he advised Fubara in good faith when he assumed power to “avoid Wike’s trouble.”

The former governor had offered this advice shortly after Fubara won his election to become governor.

The two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains have been locked in a battle of supremacy over the control of the political structure in Rivers State, resulting in a divided state assembly and multiple legal battles.

In the interview, he said of the worsening conflict, “The crisis has crossed the Rubicon. The matter has gone too far. Even if you want to resolve it, how do you restore the trust? I believe it’s too late for reconciliation.”
