First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has donated ₦40 million and various food items to support victims of a recent tanker explosion in Majiya village, Jigawa State.
This was disclosed in a statement by Busola Kukoyi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the First Lady, on Thursday.
A delegation led by Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abbass, the Wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, presented the donation on behalf of the First Lady at the Government House in Dutse.
The cheque and food items were handed over to the Wife of the State Governor, Hadiza Umar Namadi.
In her message, the First Lady expressed her deep concern for the victims’ plight and assured the state government of her ongoing support and prayers.
Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, in his remarks, thanked the First Lady for her commiseration and generous donation.
He pledged that the funds would be used effectively to assist the victims.
The governor also appreciated President Tinubu for his swift and caring response to the disaster, noting that several victims were already showing signs of recovery under medical care.
The Wife of the Governor, Hadiza Namadi, who received the items on behalf of the state government, described the First Lady’s visit and donation as a demonstration of motherly compassion, unity, and solidarity.
Earlier, the delegation visited Rasheed Shekoni Federal University Teaching Hospital in Dutse, where some of the victims are receiving medical treatment.
