The Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, has charged the Nigerian Army to get rid of the notorious bandits’ leader, Bello Turji, without further delay.

The minister gave the order in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, on Thursday while addressing troops of Operation Fansar Yamma at the One Brigade Headquarters.

Abubakar, who was in the state to receive briefings on the ongoing military operations, stated that President Bola Tinubu was pleased with the progress made by the troops in combating banditry over the past few months.

He said, “President Bola Tinubu has recognised some level of improvement in the operation against terrorists in the region over the last few months.”

However, the minister acknowledged that challenges remain, as bandits continue to terrorize the region’s populace.

Addressing the troops, Abubakar conveyed President Tinubu’s commitment to providing all necessary support for the fight against bandits, urging the soldiers to intensify their efforts.

“President Tinubu has asked me to thank you and to also encourage you to do more in ending insecurity in these operational areas.

“He is ready to supply everything you need to eliminate insecurity in the Northwest and across Nigeria.

“Are you ready to finish them off?

“Are you ready to end banditry in this country?

“Please get me Turji, dead or alive,” he added.

The minister was received by the Commander, Joint Taskforce, Northwest Operation Fansar Yamma, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, and the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Malam Mani Mummuni.
