The Federal Government has launched a portal to grant youth access to 2,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) tricycles, aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure and driving economic growth.
Ayodele Olawande, Minister of State for the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, unveiled the portal in Abuja in collaboration with the Presidential CNG Initiative (PI-CNG) and the National Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association (NATOMORAS).
During the launch, Olawande emphasized that the portal promotes transparency in enrolling young Nigerians into the Presidential CNG Initiative within the transportation sector. He noted that the platform empowers youth nationwide to register and connect with aggregators or vehicle owners directly involved in the program.
“This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for equal access to government programs, providing opportunities regardless of wealth or social status,” Olawande stated.
He underscored that young Nigerians will not need any form of influence to benefit from the Ministry’s programs, reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusivity.
The Minister encouraged youth involved in or interested in commercial transportation to leverage the Presidential Initiative on CNG, highlighting it as a key component of the President’s palliative measures.
He further outlined two ways to access the CNG Portal for tricycles: young. ng and pci.gov.ng/tricycle.
Tosin Coker, Representative of the Presidential CNG Initiative, commended the partnership with the Ministry and NATOMORAS, noting that it will open up employment opportunities for many young people.
Coker added that participants would have the option to own the tricycles over time, should they choose to do so.
He expressed gratitude to the Ministry for spearheading the initiative and to the aggregators for their collaboration and support.
Earlier, Sani Hassan, Chairman of NATOMORAS, described the portal launch as a historic milestone for the association and its members nationwide.
He thanked God for the opportunity to be part of the event and assured the Minister that NATOMORAS would actively mobilize and educate their members to fully benefit from the initiative.
