Ex-Kwara deputy speaker dies in auto crash

A former deputy speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Christopher Ayeni, was killed in a ghastly auto accident on Thursday.

The fourth Kwara House of Assembly deputy speaker died in the crash that occurred at about 10:00 am 500m away from Igbaja junction, Ajase-ipo in the Ifelodun local government area of the state due to overspeeding and lack of concentration.

Some other people also died in the accident.

It was learnt that two vehicles involved in the accident are grey colour commercial Sinoki truck with registration number T-17488LA and white colour Toyota hilux pick up vehicle with registration number ARP545KY.

The PRO of the Kwara State sector command of the FRSC, Basambo Olayinka, confirmed the incident in a statement, saying that five people involved in the accident are three males and two females.

The statement said that all the five people involved sustained varying degrees of injuries and that no one died at the point of rescue of the accident.

The PRO, however, said that the late deputy speaker died at a cottage hospital, Ajase Ipo that he was taken to for treatment.

He said items recovered at the scene of the accident include two android phones now kept with the FRSC and two bags that are with the Nigeria Police, Ajase Division.
