Empowers 1000 women

President Bola Tinubu’s wife, Oluremi, has encouraged girls who dropped out of school due to early pregnancy, abuse, domestic violence, or financial difficulties not to give up on achieving their dreams.

Oluremi Tinubu made the appeal yesterday during the commissioning and handover of the Alternative High School for Girls in Osogbo, Osun State.

The school, established under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), is part of the RHI Access to Education for All Programme.

It is designed to offer a second chance at formal education to girls and women whose education was interrupted by life’s challenges.

“To the beneficiaries of this school, your past does not define you. This is another chance, another opportunity, and you must embrace it with determination and focus. Just believe in yourself and know there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Oluremi added.

She underscored the transformative power of education, especially for girls, describing it as a fundamental human right.

“Through this facility, we are not only giving these girls and women a second chance at formal education but equipping them with life skills to rebuild their confidence, independence, and potential to contribute meaningfully to society. Investing in women and girls’ education is investing in the future of our nation.”

In the same vein, the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, praised Oluremi’s efforts, particularly her work through the RHI.

He said the state was already reaping significant benefits, adding, “This school is a testament to her commitment to providing a better life for families.”

He thanked the President’s wife for handing over the facility to the state government for smooth operation.

Furthermore, Suwaiba Ahmed, Minister of State for Education, highlighted the school’s alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which focuses on inclusive and equitable education for all.

The facility features a creche, a skills acquisition centre, and modern classrooms.

Meanwhile, during the event, the RHI Economic Empowerment Programme also provided 1,000 women in the state with N50,000 business recapitalization grants and essential materials.

Mrs Tinubu urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the seed money to improve their livelihoods.
She further reiterated her dedication to the welfare of ordinary Nigerians, stating that it aligns with the principles of her husband.
