In response to growing security concerns in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area.
Edafe Bright, the police spokesperson in a document shared on Wednesday said tactical police teams have been stationed at strategic points to curb the rising cases of kidnapping and armed robbery.
The Delta State Police Command, acknowledging public outcry on WhatsApp and other social media platforms, has mobilized personnel to tackle the situation.
CP Abaniwonda directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Aina Adesola, to oversee the deployment of operatives from specialized units, including the Dragon Patrol, Eagle-Net, and Rapid Response Squad (RRS), to various locations in Ogwashi-Uku.

Furthermore, the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad (SAKCCS) has been instructed to relocate to the area and employ intelligence-driven operations to track down and apprehend suspected criminals.
Officers from the State Intelligence Department (SID) have also been assigned undercover duties to gather information that will aid in dismantling criminal networks.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to public safety, CP Abaniwonda assured residents of Ogwashi-Uku and the entire state that security forces will remain vigilant in the fight against crime.
He urged citizens to remain alert, continue their lawful activities, and report any suspicious individuals or movements to the police.
