In a decisive move to combat oil theft and revitalise Nigeria’s oil production, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has directed troops of the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army to strengthen their operations against economic sabotage.
He issued the directive during a working visit to the division’s headquarters in Port Harcourt yesterday.
Oluyede condemned the current crude oil production levels as insufficient to support Nigeria’s economic growth.
He emphasised the critical need to safeguard the nation’s oil assets.

He charged the troops to intensify their efforts in creating a secure environment for oil exploration and production, a vital sector for national development.
The COAS stressed the importance of integrity and professionalism, warning against any involvement with criminal elements.

“Any personnel found colluding with economic saboteurs or engaging in illegal activities will face severe consequences in line with military and national laws,” he stated.
To ensure the success of the operations, Oluyede reassured the troops of his commitment to their welfare and the provision of necessary resources to enhance their effectiveness.
He urged them to remain steadfast in their duties, noting their pivotal role in stabilizing the economy for the benefit of all Nigerians.
