President Bola Tinubu announced on Wednesday the dissolution of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Ministry of Sports Development.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Tinubu, shared the news through a statement on his X page.

He revealed that the decision was made during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

The statement read: “President Tinubu and Federal Executive Council scrap Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of sports development. There will now be a ministry of regional development to oversee all the regional development commissions, such as Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission.”

During the meeting, it was also decided that the National Sports Commission will now take over the duties previously handled by the Ministry of Sports Development.

Additionally, the Ministry of Tourism has been merged with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, consolidating their roles to streamline operations.
