The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has renewed its partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aimed at enhancing collaboration and intelligence sharing.

The MOU was officially signed on Thursday, 14 November, during the Comptroller-General of Customs’ Conference in Abuja.

The Voice of Nigeria newspaper disclosed that this agreement marks a crucial step forward in protecting public health and ensuring national security.

NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, highlighted the importance of this renewed partnership in a statement released on Friday.

She noted that the collaboration is essential for maintaining the safety and quality of regulated products such as food, medicines, and healthcare items consumed by Nigerians.

Prof. Adeyeye stressed that the partnership would help ensure that these products meet strict quality standards and prevent the illegal entry of harmful pharmaceutical products into the country.

The NCS Comptroller-General, Adewale Adeniyi, also voiced strong support for the initiative, emphasizing the need to tackle the problem of illicit drugs and other dangerous substances entering Nigeria.

He instructed NCS officers to work closely with NAFDAC in sharing critical intelligence to safeguard Nigerians, particularly children, and contribute to a drug-free society.
